randy befriends an editor at the newspaper where he works. they party together a lot and sometimes include their boss (charles). anita claims to be a gay man trapped in a woman's body and opens randy's eyes to the anonymous sex that is available to him in new york city. she dresses like a man and takes randy to his first gay movie theater where men have multiple sex partners in one night, but not that night because anita gets caught (because of her fingernails) and chased out of the theater.
